FARMER & LUNA’S BILL FARMER
CHAIRS NASHVILLE’S FIRST-EVER
ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE
Rainy skies on March 17, 2002 did not deter hundreds of enthusiastic spectators from turning out and lining several blocks of Elliston Place for Nashville’s first-ever St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Nashville’s Mayor, Bill Purcell, served as Grand Marshall of the parade, which included floats, bagpipers, Irish stepdancers, high school marching bands, The Knights of Columbus, mounted police, gubernatorial candidate Phil Bredesen and a group of supporters, and Irish Wolfhounds and Irish Setters.
The event, which benefited St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, was organized through the efforts of a committee led by Farmer & Luna member Bill Farmer.
